Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found many other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.
A high-ranking political figure commented the attack made him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
